John Muir Cancer Center Installations
In 2023-2024, Mark Lilly Photography (MLP) was honored to be commissioned by the Andrea Schwartz Gallery to create five tailored, high-resolution photographic wall murals for the newly constructed John Muir Cancer Center (Behring Pavilion) in Walnut Creek, California. These stunning super-graphics, ranging in size from 35 ft x 11.7 ft to 13.5 ft x 10.5 ft, transform the center’s spaces into immersive environments designed to uplift and inspire.
In close collaboration with Andrew Schwartz, John Muir Health administrators, and key stakeholders, MLP carefully curated a collection of nature-inspired landscapes. Each mural was thoughtfully selected to evoke a spectrum of emotions—calm, inspiration, warmth, relaxation, strength, and perseverance—crafted to provide comfort and encouragement to patients, families, and loved ones navigating the challenges of treatment. Through this dynamic partnership, MLP delivered a powerful visual experience that enhances the healing environment of the Behring Pavilion.
The 35.1 ft x 11.7 ft custom high-resolution photographic mural of the South Beach Succulents at Sunrise in the Point Reyes National Seashore was installed at the John Muir Cancer Center in January 2024.
The 34.0 ft x 10.6 ft custom high-resolution photographic mural of the Giant Sequoia’s at Sunset in Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park was installed at the John Muir Cancer Center in January 2024.
The 18.6 ft x 9.6 ft custom high-resolution photographic mural of a rare Snowy Sunset at Mount Diablo via China Wall was installed at the John Muir Cancer Center in January 2024.
The 13.6 ft x 10.3 ft custom high-resolution photographic mural from the 11-mile Beach Overlook in the Point Reyes National Seashore was installed at the John Muir Cancer Center in January 2024.
